Heavyweight 100% cotton jersey gives DTG and screen prints a dense, stable surface. Our GSM weight guide matches blanks to each print method.

Charcoal is a dark base, so DTG needs pretreatment and a white underbase for colours to sit true, and fine detail can look slightly softer than on a crisp new blank. Washed finishes can react differently to heat and pressure, so run a test press before a full run. For embroidery, the 300 GSM body gives stitches a firm base, and tonal thread on washed charcoal suits small chest logos. What does 300 GSM mean?

GSM is the fabric’s weight in grams per square metre. The higher the number, the heavier and more substantial the fabric. Our GSM weight guide explains how weight affects printing and embroidery.

Is 300 GSM heavy for a t-shirt?

Yes. As a rough guide, t-shirts under about 180 GSM are lightweight, 180–220 GSM is midweight and 250 GSM and above is heavyweight, so 300 GSM is a true heavyweight. For heavier still, our 320 GSM ultra heavyweight t-shirt is the heaviest short-sleeve t-shirt we stock.

Are heavyweight t-shirts oversized?

Not always: weight and fit are separate choices. This one is both, 300 GSM jersey in a classic oversized, boxy cut. An oversized tee depends on its fabric to hold the shape; light jersey tends to collapse and cling, while at 300 GSM the body has enough weight to hang straight and keep its boxy line.

Should I choose 300 GSM or 320 GSM?

Both are heavyweight, oversized, boxy blanks in 100% cotton jersey. This 300 GSM tee has a high ribbed neckline; our 320 GSM ultra heavyweight t-shirt is heavier still, with a 2x1 ribbed neckline.

What is a stone washed t-shirt?

A t-shirt that has been tumbled with abrasive stones after it was made. The process softens the fabric and fades the colour unevenly, giving a vintage, broken-in look. Abrasion takes a little strength out of the fabric, which is why a heavyweight 300 GSM base carries the finish better than a lightweight tee.

Will every stone washed t-shirt look the same?

Not exactly. Natural variation in shade and fade is part of the finish, so test your ink colours on more than one garment. If you need identical colour on every unit, a solid-dyed blank such as our 300 GSM black oversized tee is the better option.

Is stone washed the same as acid washed?

No. Acid or mineral washing adds a bleaching agent, which creates a high-contrast, marbled pattern. Stone washing on its own gives a softer, more even fade.

What colours does it come in?

Stone wash charcoal and black, a solid colour. To compare colours first, the heavy oversized 3 pack includes one black, one ecru and one stone wash charcoal. For your own colour, the 265 GSM ecru oversized tee shares the same fit and neckline and is made as a base for garment dyeing. Dyeing over a washed charcoal limits you to deeper shades, so start from ecru for a custom Pantone colour.

What fabric is it made from?
